Mammoth Spring State Park will offer three workshops in March -- bluebird house building, basket weavingand Dutch oven cooking. Each workshop is limited in space and reservations are required. Bluebird Day will be Saturday, March 13. Materials for the bluebird boxes are supplied by the Spring River Sportsman Club and members of the club will be on hand to help build the boxes. The workshop is free, but reservations are required because space and materials are limited. Call the park at 870-625-7364 to make your reservations. Participants need to bring a hammer.
The basket weaving workshop will be on Saturday, March 20 starting at 9 a.m. and reservations are required. A fee of $25 will cover the cost of instruction and supplies. Participants will leave with a finished egg/melon basket. Call the park to sign-up before March 13.
Saturday, March 27 will be the Dutch Oven cooking workshop. Class will begin at 10 a.m. and last about three hours. Participants will learn how to select a Dutch oven, season an oven, control heat and take care of the oven.
Participants will work together to prepare 3-4 dishes and then reap the rewards. A fee of $15 will cover instruction and food costs. Again, space is limited and reservations are required. Call the park at 870-625-7364 for more information or to make a reservations by March 20.
