Benedict announces candidacy

Thursday, March 25, 2010

"If it's not good for Arkansas just say 'No.'

That is that I believe our legislators in Little Rock should be telling Washington D.C.

I am therefore committed to run for the Republican Primary State Representative District 82, which includes Fulton, part of Baxter and part of Sharp County.

Our family farm operation of over 30 years is near Salem. This includes dairy farming and beef cattle. My business, Mountain Home Flight Service Inc., is at Ozark Regional Airport in Baxter County. This includes a full service fixed base operation, air charter service and an air attack command center contracted with the U.S. Forestry Service to fight wildfires over the entire United States, saving lives and property.

The same aircraft was contracted under the direction of NASA to control 18 helicopters and 300 ground crew assisting in search and recovery of the Space Shuttle Columbia.

I attend and lector at St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend. My background includes Fulton County Republican Chairperson, Farm Family of the Year and Fulton County Business Woman of the Year. I am married to Don Benedict, have two children, two grandchildren and am a cancer survivor.

Right now the issues seem to be surviving the political environment.

Big Federal government is ever increasing its stranglehold on state rights and giving itself more power.

Arkansas values and traditions are not the same as other states, and we should not stand for the "One size fits all" ideas initiated by the current administration.

Every Republican running for office acknowledges our conservative agenda and the principals that unite us. Our State Representative however needs to be able to accomplish more than a yes or no vote. We need Republicans capable and intent on sponsoring new legislation that protects our conservative values and goals.

I served four years on the State Election Commission appointed by Gov. Mike Huckabee and played a key role in implementing voter ID regulations. This long overdue procedure helped stop voter fraud and greatly benefited all Republican candidates.

I have, through our business and farming operations demonstrated that I have the determination to stand up for what I believe in. My opponents have labeled me tenacious.

If believe it in my heart to be right, I have the backbone to stand up for it, for Arkansas; and would appreciate your vote in the Republican Primary, May 18, 2010. Early voting starts May 3," Benedict concluded.
