Highland schools host art show

Talented young artists from Sharp County presented their art for the public's viewing pleasure March 23 at the Highland High School Library. The 12th annual student art show was sponsored by the Timely Club, GFWCA. Highland High School art teacher, Missy Fuller, middle school art instructor, Keri Gabric and Cherokee Village Elementary School teacher Stacey Rhoades students created their masterpieces in charcoal, clay, markers, acrylic paintings, foil relief, mixed media, oil pastels, pastels, pencil, printmaking, tempera and watercolor.

Competing from Cherokee Elementary School in kindergarten were: Patricia Broemel; Chad Dennis; Jordan Gabric; Wyatt Goodman; Vivian Head; Samantha Mills; Danielle Slater and Linden Whitlow.

Those competing in first grade were: Aliyan Durham; Addison Long; Delaney Harris; Oscar Hutchings; Tara Rook; Grant Sanders and Kaylee Sappenfield.

Students displaying their art from the second grade were: Keylee Circle; Ian Collins; Ainsley Fair; Caleb Faulkner; Jamie Horton; Molly McBryde; Ethan Pena and Madison Young.

Third graders who competed were: Britney Ashcraft; Laurali Bradshaw; Alexis Ellis; Dana Haney; Klorissa Hamilton; Abby Harmon; Faith Hester; Alexis Statler and Ashley Tolar.

In fourth grade, students were: Paige Baldwin; Zachary Brown; Harrison Bruner; Ragan Burris; Bailey Circle; Georgia Evans; Dylan Fair; Samantha Goldwood; Sam Kalajyan; Austin Langle; Brayden Matty; Derek Mullins; Ben Paul; Sarah Saxton and Melanie Stone.

Students who competed in the art show from the Highland Middle School included fifth graders Emmanual Brink; Ashton Gibson; Mikayla Goodwin; Caelan Hawk; Maddy Holden; Madison Johnson; Emma Lawyer; Brooklyn Moffitt; Hunter Monroe; Kallie Scott and Terri Wilson.

Sixth graders who displayed their art were: Brady Bates; Dakota Burkhardt; Dylan Burch; Allie Calvert; Kristin French; Sydeny Hynkels; Christian Hightower; Ben Jackson; Starr Seibert; Harlie Tolar and Zoe Williams.

Those in seventh grade whose art was displayed at the show were: DJ Adams; Michael Archibald; Dasha Artsykhosvka; Lealyson Bailey; Autumn Boggs; Keith Bynum; Brooke Cole; Justin Copeland; Eric Day; Tarah Earle; Jay English; Haley Foust; Kevin French; Alex Graddy; Austin C. Himshoot; Clay Ingram; Hope Isaacs; Emma Johnson; Shannia Jordan; Shelby Lambert; Kaleigh Lynxwiler; Colby McGuire; Brittany Mofitt; Sonya Mullins; Britney Reding; Amie Reilly; Jonathan Runsick; Robin Scholes; Candace Seward; Rebecca Sinclair; Autumn Spurlock; Clayton Starken and Eric Stone.

Highland High School students also participated in the art show. From the eighth grade Moriah McAtee, Morgan Norris and Jordan Thatch displayed their art.

In ninth grade, Cory Thatch participated. Tenth graders Amber Belt; Sabrina Prokop; Zac Smith; Darian Stewart and Hannah Whitney.

Eleventh graders Ronnie Butler; Brooke Byers; Victoria Byrne; Josh Craven; Witney Davis; Devin Despain; Shyla Hamm; Bayley Haney; Terri Harrison; Gus Lindley; Erin McCord and Shawn Wright participated.

Those seniors who participated were Katie Blalack; Kaitlyn Duncan; Jessica Green; Moriah Hendrix; Babe Lamb; Krisitina Langston; John Lee; Bailey Loucks; Brooke Messer; Felicia Perez; Rebecca Quintana; Aliya Roth; Roger Savell; Maggie Scholz; Katie Sellers; Leighan Smith; Brittany Tate; Ashley Velez and Chrissy Welch.
