The Sharp County Clerk's office announces the county's candidates who are seeking election in the upcoming May 18 Democratic Primary.

County Judge: Larry Brown.

Sheriff: Mark Counts and Dennis Burton.

Clerk: Tommy Estes.

Assessor: Kathy Nix.

Tax Collector: Charlotte Ratliff.

Treasurer: Wanda Girtman.

Coroner : Nathan Circle and Dough Wortham.

Justices of the Peace: District 1 -- Roger Stark; District 3 -- Greg Prenger; District 4 -- Roger Smith and Scott Long; District 5 -- Ray Martin; District 6- Bartus Allen; District 7- David Croft; District 8- Jeral Hastings; District 9 -- Todd Price.

The following list of Independent candidates have announced their candidacy for the Nov. 2, general election.

Sheriff: James T. Estes

Justices of the Peace: District 2 -- Darrell Kehrli, District 7 -Bart Schulz; Joseph Adam; Marvin Cossey; Jimmie Don Kunkel.

Constable: District 6 -- Dennis L. Black Hawk.

Early voting will begin May 3. Voters may vote Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. through 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

To avoid lines, voters are encouraged to vote early.
