The Viola Longhorns committed nine errors, but still managed to slip past Mountain View 10-9 in the consolation bracket of the First Community Bank Pioneer Classic March 30 in Batesville.
The winning run for Viola came via a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Horns were up 7-4, but the Yellowjackets took advantage of some costly Viola miscues to jump on top 9-7.
Viola scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to square the game before winning it in the last frame.
Dolan Johnston picked up the win by pitching the final 1 1/3 innings in relief of starter Jordan Cotter. Johnston allowed just two walks and struck out two.
Cotter went the first 5 2/3 innings and gave up nine runs, but most were unearned.
Austin Gardner had three hits and drove in three runs, while Dylan Holstine also drove in three runs.
Cotter drove in a pair of runs, and Johnston and Jacob Luther had three hits apiece.
The Longhorns went on to take first place in the consolation bracket by knocking off Salem (20-8) and Newport (13-3) April 1.
