Meyers announces candidacy

George Meyers, Missouri House District 153, announced today that his campaign was officially underway.

"The outpouring of early support I have received has been overwhelming," said Meyers. "In talking with voters, I can tell people want someone who will speak for them in the state legislature, and I am glad that my friends, family and neighbors are willing to help me get there."

George Meyers currently serves as assessor for Carter County. This month, he and his wife Judy celebrated their 37th year wedding anniversary; together they have two children and two grandchildren. Meyers has served our country as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. The Meyers' attend Ellsinore First Assembly of God Church.

"I look forward to working on behalf of the people of the District to help Gov. Nixon bring more jobs and educational opportunities to the community; all while maintaining a fiscally responsible state budget," said Meyers.

George Meyers is running on the Democratic ticket to represent the 153rd District in the Missouri House of Representatives. The District includes Carter, Oregon, Ripley, and portions of Butler & Wayne counties.
