John D. Dameron, 64, of Lake St. Louis, was killed April 13 when he lost control of his motorcycle at the intersection of Highway 160 and Highway 99 in Oregon County. According to Cpl. Wes Mann with the Missouri State Patrol, Dameron lost control of his motorcycle on gravel as he approached the intersection, running the cycle off the road and into an embankment. Damron was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Oregon County Coroner Tom Clary pronounced Dameron dead at the scene.
Also on April 13, Mary J. Riley, 18, of Doniphan and her passenger, Danale Riley, 17, of Doniphan were injured when they ran into the back of a GMC pickup driven by Travis L. Cannon on Highway 142 just east of Couch. Cannon had been stopped for a school bus displaying its red lights. Both Riley's were taken by ambulance to the Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan. Cannon was uninjured.
Tyler D. Fugate, 16, of Myrtle was on a Honda motorcycle directly behind the Riley vehicle and while trying to avoid that accident, he slid the bike off the left side of the road. He was thrown from the cycle and suffered moderate injuries. Fugate was transported to Ozarks Medical Center where he was treated and released.
