The Alton R-4 Public School Foundation has awarded its first years grants from the earnings from the Cooper Endowed Fund. Total grants were just over $2,000. Both elementary and high school classrooms received grants.

Among the junior high and high school classes that received grants were as follows:

Mr. Britton requested the purchase of an online subscription for his Algebra 1 classes for one year. It is to help prepare the students for the end of course testing. He and the students are well pleased with it. They will be able to use it the rest of this year and into April 2011.

Mrs. Amy Trantham and librarian Mrs. Little wrote a combined grant for non-fiction books for the library. Mrs. Trantham's junior high students needed more non-fiction books for their English classes. 23 beautiful new hardback books just arrived. These books will also be available to all junior high and high school students through the year.

Mrs. Elizabeth Harris needed a digital camera for her Mass Media class for student use. This has been purchased and is already in use.
