Jack Lowe, chairman of the Elk's Foundation said sponsors for the second annual event included, not only the Elk's Lodge, but also Town and Country grocery store and Walmart of Ash Flat .
He said the event has doubled in size from last years inaugural event and the Elk's Club looks forward to making this an annual event that will continue to grow. Local Boy Scouts volunteered with 10 members of the local Elk's Lodge during the event to help with scorekeeping as well as assisting the youngsters
The event was open to children under the age of 13. The proceeds go to the Elks National Foundation. This year, over 100 fish were caught by the 19 youth who entered the fishing rodeo.
The largest fish caught was by Zachary Sheets.Sheets won a prize and trophy.
In the girls category, Alexandra Cariker wonfirst place for the most fish caught. She was awarded a prize, rod and reel and tackle.
In the boy's category, all winners were awarded a prize, rod and reel and tackle. Zachary Sheets won first prize for the most fish caught, second place went to William Sheets and third place to Alex Avery.
Lowe said the volunteers had as much fun as the youth during the rodeo.
