Kids Fishing Derby on tap at the Hatchery

Thursday, May 13, 2010

It's Kids Fishing Derby Time Again at the Jim Hinkle/Spring River State Fish Hatchery on June 12 in Mammoth Spring.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has a strong commitment to America's youth and is proud to celebrate National Fishing Week by sponsoring an unforgettable day of fishing fun for children on Saturday, June 12 at the Jim  Hinkle/Spring River State Fish Hatchery in Mammoth Spring. That is also free fishing weekend throughout the state -- no license or trout tags necessary.

The Derby is open for youngsters 12 years of age and younger, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The hatchery is located 2.5 miles south of Mammoth Spring, Ark., at the end of State  Highway 342. The kids will be fishing in the hatchery's stocked ponds for rainbow trout and must bring their own bait and tackle. Adult supervision is required.

"Come on out and start the summer right with a day of family fun," a spokesperson said.

For more information contact the hatchery toll free at 877-625-7521.
