Officials with the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly basketball team have added another new recruit for the 2010-2011 season.
He is Pervis Hall, a 6-5 forward from Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne, Ind.
"We are happy to add Pervis to the Grizzly basketball family," Head Coach Yancey Walker said. "I expect Pervis to come in and compete immediately. He is a very good rebounder and is always around the ball. His strength and length will allow him to be a very good defender for us. Best of all, he's been on a successful team and is used to winning."
Elmhurst's leading scorer and second-leading rebounder, Hall helped guide the Trojans to an 18-6 record and a run to the Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A Semistate (semifinals) this past season.
He averaged 17 points and nine rebounds during the year, but saved his best performances for the post-season, where he scored 20 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in the sectional championship and scored 35 points in the regional title game. He also earned a place in the Nancy Rehm Border Wars Indiana vs. Ohio All-Star Classic and won the event's dunking contest.
Elmhurst Head Coach Shabaz Khaliq was "extremely excited" about Hall's choice to attend Missouri State-West Plains. "After he finishes (at West Plains), I think he can be a mid-major (Division 1) player," Khaliq said in a published report.
Hall made his decision to join the Grizzlies after a visit to campus recently. "I really felt like I fit in when I went down there," he said in a published report. "I just liked the community that the school was in and how much it supported the team."
Hall will join fellow recruit Jordan Clennon from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, as well as returning Grizzlies Westley Hinton, Chris Mason, Twann Oakley, Quinton Pippen, Teddy Simniok, Nathane Simniok, Gage Wooten and Lonnie Hayes, a redshirt from last season.
