On May 13, the Spring River senior softball team traveled to Jonesboro for some action on the diamond.
In game one with Jonesboro, it was a close game, with Spring River winning the game 12-9.
There were some good defensive plays to stop Jonesboro rallys.
Rick Comer swung a hot bat, hitting a grand slam home run, along with a two-run dinger.
The Trumann game was another nailbiter.
The lead changed almost every inning.
The game was tied going into the last inning. Spring River did not score in their half of the inning and Trumann managed one run, good enough to win the game 3-2.
There were some good defensive plays and also some break downs. Jim Drozd hit a three-run homer.
Both Trumann and Jonesboro are improved from last year.
Spring River has the same lineup from last year. The team misses Pat LaFaye who is not playing at present due to an illness. Pat missing from the lineup is like pulling a spark plug from an engine.
Herb Hess did all the pitching for Spring River. It's amazing how he manages to handle all those line drives hit at him.
