Grab the kids and come down to court square this weekend to enjoy two days of family-fun at the 61st annual Salem Homecoming Festival.
Friday night gets off to a great start with the Fish Fry at the Salem Senior Center from 5p.m. to 7 p.m.
Bring your appetite and your pocketbook to court square at 7:30 p.m. for the 4-H Apple Pie Auction, and stay for the Street Dance from 8-11 p.m. featuring the music of Casey Hall and Southern Born.
Saturday is chocked full of activities starting with the Bank of Salem Mark Thomas Memorial Apple Pie 5K race at 8 a.m. followed by the Squirt races.
After the race, cruise on over to the NAEC south parking lot for the Hill's Auto Sales antique car/truck/tractor/cycle show.
One of the big crowd pleasers every year is the Sonic Drive-In Terrapin Downs race. Kids (and adults) from all around bring their turtles to the races to win prizes.
In the afternoon, musical entertainment will be provided by Wyman Lee and Wild Card, followed by the festival parades which begin at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m., groove to the sounds of Heywyre at the street dance, or head on over to the Ozark Mountain Music Makers Musical at the Music Barn on Highway 62 east of Salem.
All in all, it promises to be a great weekend.
