The track was fast May 22 and dozens of local and out-of-town racers were fine-tuning their machines for the big Memorial Weekend Triple Feature at the new West Plains Speedway.
West Plains' own Stan Ellison won the Super Stock feature after passing the third-place finisher, teammate Jeff North of Rogersville.
Second spot went to Michael Lack of Caruthersville in a very exciting race that saw the lead change hands about five times.
The Late Model feature was captured by a young Brosley, Mo., driver, Mason Oberkramer.
He bettered Tim Winchester of Gideon, Mo., and Jerry Croney of West Plains.
The fast pace of the show delivered a ton of excitement for local and area fans when the Hobby class saw last week's winner John Stiner, pass for second with two laps left as he pressured eventual winner Kevin Collins from his tail back start.
Both had all they could handle from Wayne Degase of Squires, Mo.
The first feature of the evening was Youth Hobby and a first-time win went to Jared Duke of West Plains after a 10-lap duel with Kaleb Stolba of Willow Springs
Third went to Skyler Cochran of West Plains.
This is the second new winner in as many weeks and Stolba and Cochran have held their positions.
The Modifieds will be back next week for the special event and the Missouri state IMCA champion set a blistering pace in the 20-lap feature with Shawn Walsh of Ash Flat the ultimate winner.
He was followed by Rustin Miller of Houston and Anthony Carnal of Cabool.
The Cruisers saw a new winner as Corey Lambert won his first-ever, followed by Bennie Grogan of Moody and Doug "Pops" Lambert of West Plains.
