Thursday, July 8, 2010

Hardy's Nathan Circle fired rounds of 65 and 70 for a nine-under par total of 135 to win the only qualifying position for Arkansas for the USGA Arkansas Public Links Championship held at Stonelinks Golf Course in North Little Rock.

In 100-degree temperatures, Circle parred the first 12 holes, then recorded three birdies and a bogie to close the first round.

The putter got hot in the afternoon with five birdies, one eagle and 12 pars.

Circle advances to Bryan Park Golf Course in Greensboro, NC, July 10-17 for the United States Golf Association 85th U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship.

This will be Circle's first appearance in the USGA national event in hopes of becoming the next national champion.
