Ninety-six players competed on 24 teams to celebrate the 7th annual Tommy Bolt Memorial on June 26 at the Cherokee Village South Golf Course.
This year, financial support included 12 major sponsors, 25 "tee-hole" sponsors and the 96 participants playing on the 24 teams.
Among the major sponsors were hole-in-one sponsors MidLake Marine of Cherokee Village and Freedom Ford of Melbourne, along with Bronze level sponsors FNBC, Hometown Radio and Liberty Bank.
This years tournament winners were:
First: Russ Stokes, Pat Kimball, Pete Reynolds and Randy Curler; Second: Bill Jarrett, Willie Jarrett, Chris Miller and Charles Southerland; Third: John M. Thurman, John R. Thurman, Alicia Thurman and Garrett Fiscus.
First: Larry Kissee, Carolyn Kissee, John Kissee and Wade Paul; Second: Greg Prenger, LeeAnn Prenger, Tracy Webb and Sammy Weir; Third: J.D. Gleghorn, Mike Gleghorn, C.O. Smith and Marvin Maguffee.
First: Larry Weatherford, Richard Emmens, Nick Brown and Paul Hook; Second: Kelly Webb, Helen Chaffin, Jr. Byford and Anna Verkler; Third: Scott Paul, Tony Taylor, Richard Yeager and Scott Phelps.
Again this year, team scores were flighted in three flights after play.
Gift certificates for the South Course Golf shop were awarded to the top three places within each flight as follows: 1st place: $300, 2nd place: $240 and 3rd place: $180, for a total of $2,160.
"Hole" prize competitions were again held on all 18 holes. A $20 cash prize was awarded for the following contests: Longest Drive Men Only, Longest Drive Women Only, Longest Drive Men And Women, Longest Putt made, Closest to the Pin, Closest to the Pin 2nd Shot, and Closest to the Pin 3rd Shot.
The event benefits Fountain Place, a senior independent living christian retirement center in Cherokee Village.
Though not all returns are yet in, it is estimated by organizers that net proceeds of the tournament will be over $5,000.
