The new business that has been discussed by both the Fulton County Quorum Court and the Salem City Council in recent weeks is finally ready to start hiring.

The as yet un-named business will be located in the old shirt factory on Mize Road, next to Burch's Custom Butchering. The company plans to begin operations there in early fall. Currently renovations and repairs are being made to get the building ready for the arrival of heavy equipment and machinery.

Applications and job descriptions can be picked up at the Salem City Hall and the application process will be open until the middle of August. The company is advertising for two types of positions -- Equipment Operator and General Repairer/Maintenance.

The owners will then review the applications and hold interviews in September. Initial plans for the company include the hiring of five employees with an additional 10 to 15 employees in the future.

The county-owned building was located by the manufacturer through a Website that is provided free of charge by the Arkansas Economic Development Corporation.

Each county maintains its site thanks to training provided by the North Central Arkansas Economic Development Corporation (NCARED). Sherry Jackson of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative maintains and updates Fulton County's information, which was one of the first counties in our area to get building and industrial sites listed.

The site is updated monthly and more often if any buildings or sites become available or are occupied. The site also contains a wealth of information about Fulton County including demographics regarding the county's population. Other information including available schools in Fulton County and retail spending is provided.

The web address is www.arkansassiteselection.com.
