On July 14, Wayne Koonce, 69, of Horseshoe Bend was traveling west on Highway 56 when he failed to negotiate a curve, losing control of his 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 and running off the side off the road, striking a culvert and coming to rest in the west bound lane facing east. Koonce was taken to Calico Rock Medical Center with moderate injuries. Koonce was charged with DWI, reckless driving and no seat belt. The investigating officer was Trooper Brandon J. Cook #279.
On July 17, Cathryn Summers, 60, of Mountain Home was traveling east on U. S. Highway 62/412 in her 2005 Pontiac Vibe and had pulled to the roadside near the intersection with Robinson Point Road. Summers thought that traffic was clear and attempted to make a U-turn to travel west on U. S. Highway 62/412. A 1989 GMC Sierra driven by Steven Dover, 61, of Viola was westbound and attempted to stop but impacted his front bumper with the driver's door of Summers' vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest on the north side of the roadway. Summers was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center and charged with failure to yield and careless driving. Dover was uninjured.
