James Edward Burton, Jr., 41, of the Zion community was arrested July 26 and charged with three counts of domestic battering third degree and child endangerment. Burton, according to the reports, and his wife argued and the argument became physical, involving the wife and the wife's sister. According to Sheriff Tate Lawrence, this is not the first time a physical altercation has taken place at this residence. Burton was released July 27 from the Izard County Detention Facility after posting bond in the amount of $400 and was given a court date.
A 17-year-old Salem male was charged as the result of damage to the NAPA Store in Melbourne. The store suffered major damage as the result of a vehicle running into the building. Front glass panels were broken and the brick front was heavily damaged, with total damage estimated at $5,000. The juvenile was charged with failure to report an accident involving property damage and having no driver's license.
Debra Marie Smallwood, 45, of Violet Hill was arrested July 30 on a Baxter County warrant. Smallwood was released the same day from the Izard County Detention Facility after posting a $247 bond.
Marty Brent Hawkins, 39, of Sydney was arrest July 29 on the charge of driving on a suspended license. Hawkins posted bond in the amount of $605 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Jeremy John Hands, 36, of Calico Rock was arrested July 30 on a failure to appear warrant. Hands posted bond in the amount of $410 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Ray Lester Pifer, 49, of Wiggins, Miss., was jailed July 30 on a Department of Correction absconder warrant and is being held without bond pending a court appearance.
Cody Ty McCann, 20, of Evening Shade was transferred July 30 from the Izard County Detention Facility to the Arkansas Department of Correction.
