On Tuesday, Aug 24, the Alton Juniorettes met for the first time with the Alton GFWC (Culture Club). Four young ladies are interested in joining this new organization and will be the very first Juniorettes in the state of Missouri.

Allena Vonallmen and Jessie-Tate Axelson (both 8th graders), along with Amber Vonallmen and Chloe Axelson (both 6th graders), are enthusiastic about learning how to help out in their community and are already scheduling their time to help with the Culture Club booth during the Walnut Festival.

Proceeds from their booth will go to Missouri Girls Town, a place that houses young ladies who have been affected by sexual and physical abuse.

The most I love about Juniorettes is that we are making history," said Jessie-Tate Axelson.

The next meeting for the official organization of the Alton Juniorettes is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. in the conference room of the courthouse.

New members will vote on their officers, choose the official name of the group, design their LOGO T-shirt and learn what it means to be a Juniorette.

Anyone interested in learning more about this new organization for young ladies aged 4th grade through high school may contact Sally Robbins at 778-7592 or 417-293-4289.
