The Fulton County Hospital Foundation's golf tournament Oct. 9 at the Golf Course on Turkey Mountain netted over $5,000 for the non-profit agency.

Twenty teams turned out for the event, which enjoyed beautiful Indian summer weather in Horseshoe Bend. There were three flights and each flight paid three places.

"We appreciate all of the teams who came out and played, all of our sponsors, and the great showing of community spirit at this tournament," said Foundation board member, Ken Harper. "Congratulations to the winners and a special thanks to Freedom Ford for all their help in making this tournament a success."

Winners in the first flight were: Billy Jarrett, Willy Jarrett and Wally Mettler.

Winners in the second flight were: Bob Maguffee, Marvin Maguffee and Donnie Bryant.

Winners in the third flight were: Bruce Barker, James Blevins and J. W. Blevins.

"It was a good tournament," said a spokesman for the golf course. "It was well organized and for a first time event, was really successful."

"We wish to send out a thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make this tournament a success, to the team at the Golf Course on Turkey Mountain and especially the members of the Masons who 'held down the fort' at the 18th hole during the day," said Trena Spears, a Foundation Board member. "We also appreciate the help and support of the Fulton County Hospital Board of Governors, the staff at the hospital and hospital CEO Joe Hammond for providing the food."

The Foundation wishes to send special thanks to the 27 hole sponsors of the event, especially Freedom Ford which made a Ford Mustang available as the hole in one prize on the 18th hole. Other hole sponsors included Barker Funeral Home/HSB Memorial Chapel, North Arkansas Electric Coop, Fulton County Hospital, White River Area Agency on Aging, Barker's Hilltop Package Store, Southfork Therapy and Living Center, Salem 1st Care, State Representative Current Everett, Crown Point Health and Rehab, Community Medical Center of Calico Rock, Salem Drug Company, Guffey Pharmacy, Ozarka College, Short Title Company, Missy Irvin, Robert Hutchison, Ozarks Medical Center, John Ed Welch, CPA, Lori Benedict, Air-Evac Lifeteam, North Arkansas Homecare, Dairy Queen of Salem, Cowart's Construction Company, ABC Printing Company and Horseshoe Health & Medicine.

In-kind sponsors of the tournament were Ron Helm, Fulton County Farm Bureau, Shaver Hardware, Baker's Pharmacy, Fulton County Hospital, First National Banking Company, Areawide Media and Dewayne Plumlee, Attorney at Law.

The Fulton County Hospital Foundation accepts donations year round, including room adoption donations and Wall of Honor donations.

"We do have rooms available for adoption at the hospital where a donor would have their name or their business's name inscribed on a plaque at that room," said Spears. "A small room, such as an office, is available for $500 and a clinical room or waiting room is available for $1,000. Another opportunity is our Wall of Honor, which visitors to the hospital can see in the main waiting area. A gold sponsorship is $250, a silver sponsorship is $100 and a bronze sponsorship is $50."

For more information on the donation options, call Trena Spears at 870-371-0848 or Ken Harper at 417-274-3099.
