A sluggish fourth period cost the Salem Lady Greyhounds in their 2-2A opener on Nov. 22 at the Dawg Pound.
The Cotter Lady Warriors used a big 16-2 push in the final frame to knock off the Lady Hounds 67-55.
Salem held a 41-40 lead in the third, but Cotter regrouped to take a 49-45 advanatge into the fourth period.
The Lady Hounds pulled within two, down 51-49, early in the fourth, before the Lady Warriors opened up some breathing room.
Jamie Bell paced Salem with 20 points.
Abby Blevins and Ashley Brooks finished with eight points each.
Callen Curtis had six, while Whitney Ward and Bethany Pate had five points apiece. Bailey Lamar logged three points for the Lady Hounds.
On the boys' side of things, Cotter pushed past the Greyhounds 53-40.
The Warriors jumped in front 16-8 after the first period.
Justus Sparks led Salem with 16 points.
Casey York had seven and Blake Hensley five.
Brandon Godfrey and Ryan Rich scored four points each, with Wes Ellison and Chris Shaffer posting two points each.
The junior Lady Greyhounds opened the night with a 34-23 victory over Cotter.
Brooke York led the way with 10 points.
