Number three didn't come for the Cave City Cavewomen this year.
After playing their way into the finals of the NEA Tournament four out of the last five years, including winning the girls' 1A-2A-3A championship the past two, Cave City jumped into the 4A-5A-6A brackets this time around.
And the Westside Lady Warriors made sure there would be no three-peat for the Cavewomen, knocking off Cave City 39-37 in opening-round action Dec. 27 at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro.
The fourth-seeded Cavewomen had a pair of chances to tie the game in the last 30 seconds, but just could not get the ball to go in the basket.
The contest was knotted at 7-all after one, but Cave City edged ahead 23-18 at the break.
The fifth-seeded Lady Warriors managed to pull in front 29-28 after three.
Westside was down four points early in the final frame, but rallied to pull on top 39-37 at the two-minute mark of the fourth.

Hall was named to the All-NEA team.
