Late rallies give Horns pair of last-inning wins

With three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Viola Longhorns rallied past the Salem Greyhounds 7-6 April 22 at Viola City Park.

The Horns were in a 6-4 hole when Jordan Cotter drove in Austin Gardner to edge Viola closer.

Then, with the bases loaded, Dolan Johnston hit a ball to center that plated the tying and game-winning runs for the Longhorns.

Johnston was the winning pitcher, striking out seven, while allowing six hits.

Jackson Rains had two hits and two RBIs for Viola.

Seth Travlestead had a pair of hits and belted a homer for the visiting Greyhounds.

The Longhorns exploded for five runs in the bottom of the first and added nine runs in the second, en route to a 15-0 win over visiting Izard County April 19 at Viola City Park.

Jacob Payne struck out four in three innings of work for the win.

Jordan Cotter and Zane Kunz had a pair of hits each for the Longhorns.

Down 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning to the Highland Rebels April 20, the Longhorns scored three runs to post a 7-6, come-from-behind victory at Viola City Park.

Cotter logged the game-winning hit for Viola (24-1), a double that scoredMatt Prinner.

Dolan Johnston had four hits and an RBI for the Horns, while Jacob Payne drove in a pair of runs.

Jacob Luther and Prinner recorded an RBI apiece for Viola.
