Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church has completed a shoe collection campaign for the Soles4Souls Project. Over 1.5 billion pairs of shoes lay idle in American closets, many of which can be used to help those in need. This campaign was well-supported by Horseshoe Bend residents, and Rosebud United Methodist Church, Heber Springs United Methodist Church, Horseshoe Bend Eagles, Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church and Hardy United Methodist Church.

On June 26, Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church held a "Barefoot Sunday" as an opportunity to donate shoes during worship.

At the beginning of the service, Justin Bryant, Preston King, Landon Strobbe, and Skylar Johnson entered barefoot, bringing over 200 pairs of shoes to donate from the Hardy UMC. Worshippers went barefoot for the rest of the worship service after donating their shoes. Donations were dedicated at the service with 764 pairs of shoes contributed. The shoes were taken to a distribution center in Old Hickory, Tenn., on July 14 by Pete Landrum of the United Methodist Church and Les Stephenson of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Shoes have been designated for use in the Joplin area and the Minot area. For more information about the program, contact Rev. Nancy Cameron at 870-670-5392.
