Besides a lengthly executive session to discuss personnel issues, the July 18 meeting of the Ash Flat Council passed an ordinance, a resolution and established a new fleet gas card for the city.
Council voted to obtain fleet cards for gas purchases from Murphy USA Wright Express.
The cards will be used for police, fire and city vehicles. Each card will be specific to the vehicle.
Ash Flat Mayor Danny Traw said this will help with record keeping and give a more accurate representation regarding how much fuel is used in each department.
A Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance was also passed by council.
Flood Plain Administrator Jonathon Myren explained the ordinance has to be readopted due to the new flood plain maps.
He said the new maps have gone from a topographical type to a satellite generated map.
These ordinances are the same ones being adopted by the other sister city's as well as being considered at the county level.
They will allow those who may not have been included in the flood plain in the previous map to obtain flood insurance.
Council also approved a sign permit for Cleatus Wiles and passed a resolution to destroy records that were older than the required accounting period.
Finally, Jonathan Eversoll was hired full time to work with the water and sewer department and Josh Davis was hired to fill the spot vacated by Eversoll.
The Ash Flat City Council meets monthly on the third Monday at 6:30 p.m. The public is always welcome and invited to attend these meetings.
