Mammoth Spring VFW Post 7831 and Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor the event. This year, the auxiliary will have a youth and adult talent show. At 7 p.m. Monday, the talent show will be for ages infant through 12 years.
At 7 p.m. Tuesday the talent show will be for ages 13 and older.
Early registration is not required to enter the talent show, although contestants should be at the pavilion on the hill between 6-7 p.m. to register. Sue Vanderpool (870-625-3957) is the chairperson.
First-place winners in each show will receive $75. Second place will win $50 and third place $25.
Rides will open each night of the carnival at
6 p.m., with armbands available.
Bingo will be played each evening. The auxiliary will have a drawing for a cedar chest at 10 p.m. Saturday.
The auxiliary will also sell Rada knives, candles and cookbooks.
Entertainment is planned throughout the week at the pavilion.
Besides the Monday and Tuesday talent shows, Matt Huff will perform at 7 p.m. Friday. At 7 p.m. Saturday, the Backwoods Pickers will perform.
Bring a lawn chair.
At 2 p.m. Saturday, there will be an artillery demonstration, with park staff firing an authentic Civil War cannon.
Audience volunteers will participate in laying the gun, while park staff tell the story of Civil War artillery. There will not be a Civil War encampment or skirmish this year.
