Oregon County food coop to meet Aug. 27

Friday, August 26, 2011

More than a dozen gardeners and artisans attended the first-ever community produce exchange Aug. 11 at Juggbutt's Coffee House in Alton. The participants traded items such as homemade soap, jam, stoneground wheat bread, handcrafted pillows and potholders, vegetables and chocolate pies. Oregon County Food Producers and Artisans Coop, headed by Couch resident Rachel Luster, on left, hosted the event. The coop plans to meet at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Juggbutt's, to discuss plans to obtain an Oregon County building to establish the cooperative as a place for local producers to sell or trade their garden produce and crafts.
