Howell County authorities issued an arrest warrant for Jeff Lundry, 42, of Brandsville on Aug. 22, charging him with leaving the scene of an accident that killed David Littrell, 58, of Norwood on Aug. 20.
Lundry turned himself in to Ozark County Sheriff's Office on Aug. 26, six days after the crash.
Littrell died after a homemade pickup bed trailer pulled by a northbound red, late-model GMC truck, allegedly driven by Lundry, came loose and hit Littrell's 2004 Jeep head-on about 15 miles east of Gainesville on Route PP.
Passenger Nancy Littrell, 57, was critically injured in the crash and taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Lundry's passengers, nephew David Lapekes, who was in the bed of the pickup, and wife Shelly Lundry, in the front seat, told authorities Jeff Lundry drove home after the crash.
In 2010, Lundry received a suspended sentence of two years of unsupervised probation for resisting or interfering with an arrest, detention or stop in Howell County. In 2007, Lundry was sentenced to six months' unsupervised probation and 10 days in jail following a Willow Springs Police Department arrest for assault.
Lundry was fined in 2001 for operating a vehicle with an unsafe frame, suspension, axle, wheel or steering system following a stop by the patrol in Poplar Bluff.
Lundry also was cited twice in the past 10 years for seatbelt violations, according to online court records.
Lundry's bond was set at $50,000. A court date has not yet been set.
