Myrtle Yester-Daze organizers looking for historic photos

Among the many events scheduled for the 14th annual Myrtle Yester-Daze, new this year will be a contest for residents to bring in historic area photographs. Myrtle Yester-Daze begins at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, and includes activities throughout the day.

Organizers said the historic photos can be of places, events, family portraits, farms, hunting and fishing or anything else that depicts the area from long ago. Prizes for first, second and third place will be awarded. The amateur photo contest also will include the traditional categories of ages 12 and younger, 13-21 and age 22 and older. Two entries per participant, unframed, 4- by 6-inches only are allowed. This year's theme is Kicking up the Past. Prizes also will be given in several parade categories, and will be considered for their depiction the event theme. More information will follow in next week's paper.
