New fair events this year include Cowboy Mounted Shooting in the Natural State of Arkansas (CMSA) presenting fast horses, blazing guns and top cowboys at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27.
At 8 p.m. Wednesday, the Hall Rodeo Company will present the ACA/IPRA rodeo. Call Cline Hall at 870-795-4255 to enter. At 8 p.m. Sept. 29 and 30, H and H Rodeo Company will take over. Call Brad Huff at 870-700-9236 or 870-612-0396 to enter early. At 8 p.m. Oct. 1 there will be a ranch rodeo by Sidney Creek Arena. All horses entering the fairgrounds must have current Coggins papers.
The Miss North Centra,l District Fair Queen and Miss North Central District Fair contests will be held on Sept. 24 with arrival at Ozarka at about 1:30 p.m.
The youth talent show will follow the beauty contests. The deadline for the junior and senior contests will be Sept. 17. All other beauty contests will be due Sept. 26. Local extension offices have entry forms.
The Cobb Brothers, a young bluegrass group from Mountain View, will perform at 7 p.m. Sept. 29. At 7 p.m. Sept. 30, J.R. Rogers All Star Band will perform. A truck pull will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 1. Call Michael Roork at 870-311-0108 for information. There will also be exhibits, beauty contests, talent, carnival rides and animals all week.
On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Tri County Cattlemen will serve lunch to junior livestock exhibitors at noon. Adults can eat for $5.
A cookie jar auction to raise money for scholarships will take place right after lunch. The jars are decorated and many are filled with homemade cookies.
The Sharp County premium checks are in and can be picked up at Ozark Title, 17 W. Main St., Ash Flat.
