Through the fundraising efforts of churches, civic organizations and local residents, the center was able to raise the first half of the required $27,000 cost.
Members of the local Knights of Columbus Council St. John Newman 6962 and St. Michael's Catholic Church paid for the remaining portion of the ultrasound machine on Sept. 12.
The money was raised through various fundraising efforts through the church, including bake sales and Voice for the Unborn donations.
The group also paid for the training of employees to be certified on the machine.
New Beginning's Executive Director Janice Rabon said it is very difficult to operate without an ultrasound machine.
She said that without one, the organization loses patients.
Rabon said New Beginnings has been blessed by the community's support of the organization and the way everyone always steps up when there is a need.
The center helps birth mothers with birth alternatives as well as parenting classes and counseling.
