Quail Forever banquet on Oct. 1, youth hunt Oct. 8

The Heart of the Ozarks Chapter of Quail Forever will have its annual fundraising banquet at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at Ridgecrest Plaza on Highway 63N in West Plains. The event will help finance quail-friendly land management practices. There will be an auction at 8 p.m., including six firearms and other items. There also will be silent auctions of women's jewelry, a conceal-to-carry handgun and more. The cost of the dinner is $45 for members, $15 for spouse and $15 for children younger than age 16. Youth hunt

The chapter will have its third annual youth hunt on Oct. 8. Participants will learn safe hunting practices and weapons handling, and will begin by shooting clay pigeons before the pheasant and partridge hunt. The hunt will be near West Plains.
