Cherokee Village writers win awards

Members of the Cherokee Writers Guild recently won awards at the White River writer's conference. Earl Belcher received third place for "The Angel in My Life" and "A Simple Task" and the first honorable mention for "Complete Satisfaction." C. J. Clark received a second honorable mention for Lyric Poetry, and the second honorable mention for a Western short story. Pat Oplinger received a first honorable mention for the Writers Choice Short Story, and third honorable mention for an essay, "Family Matters." Cheri Quattrochi received the first honorable mention for a Western Short Story. The Cherokee Writers Guild meets at the Hardy library on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 9-11 a.m. There are no membership fees and anyone wishing to learn more about writing or publishing is welcome to attend.
