The body of a Cushman woman, 71-year-old Anna Faye Cowden, was found on Oct. 10, in a remote area of Izard County.

Cowden had been the subject of an alert issued by the Independence County Sheriff's Office, after she was reported missing on Oct. 1 by her family.

A resident of the Middleton Road area in far southeast Izard County was walking his dog in a densely wooded area when he discovered Cowden's vehicle, wedged between two trees.

The man later found Cowden's body a short distance from the vehicle. She was pronouned dead at the scene.

Cowden was last seen on Oct. 1, after leaving her home to clean a Cushman church. She had left her purse and identification behind, and it was feared Cowden, who is a diabetic, was disoriented by a blood sugar imbalance.
