A Salem school bus was involved in an accident in Highland Oct. 22, sending seven students to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to the police report from the Highland Police Department, Amanda Himschoot was driving a 1997 Genesis school bus in the parking lot of the Highland Square in front of Town and Country grocery store to drop her husband off after returning from a ball game in Lepanto.

Himschoot hit a light pole with the front driver's side of the bus.

She told Officer Bryan Buchanan she did not see the pole.

An employee of the Town and Country who was working at the time of the accident advised the officer the light was working prior to the accident.

Seven students were transported to Fulton County Hospital, with various minor injuries.

Salem Superintendent Ken Rich said, "We are extremely grateful that no one was seriously injured."

The amount of private property damage has yet to be assessed.

The bus driver was not cited in the incident.
