ATV crashes include one death, 13-year-old injured

An Ellsinore man has died from injuries sustained in an ATV crash in Carter County.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, on County Road 315, nine miles east of Van Buren.

According to the highway patrol, Mark L. Connell, 55, ran the 1995 Honda off the road, hit an embankment and overturned.

The ATV landed on top of Connell, according to troopers.

Connell received serious injuries and was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital where he died about 3 a.m. Saturday, according to the patrol.

Troopers say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

At 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29, two 13-year-old Ellsinore boys were riding a 2005 Honda ATV on private property near Route FF, five miles west of Ellsinore, when the ATV overturned, seriously injuring passenger Olan D. Ezell.

The driver was uninjured. Neither boy was wearing a helmet.

Ezell was airlifted to Children's Hospital in St. Louis.

At 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 16, Justin M. Najdawi, 20, of West Plains suffered moderate injuries when the 2009 Yamaha Rhino ATV he was driving on private property near Howell County Road 1750, two miles north of West Plains, overturned, partially ejecting Najdawi.

Najdawi was taken to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. He was not wearing a helmet.
