David Leslie Wilson, 94, of Cherokee Village passed away on November 15, 2011. David is much missed by his family and friends. He was born August 19, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan, son of David L. Wilson, Sr. and Arla Mae Gardner Wilson. David was an Eagle Scout and played on his high school hockey team. In 1939, David married Alice Lorraine Lemmon, and they had two children, Michael and Patricia.
During WWII, David entered the U.S. Navy in April of 1944 and served in the Philippines and Borneo on Motor Torpedo boats and served as executive officer of PT-163 and was "Skipper" of PT-125.
In 1980, David retired to Cherokee Village after 39 years as a sales engineer for American Standard. During retirement he enjoyed playing golf and working for volunteer organizations.
In 1987, David married Elsie Louise Henley. David was a dedicated member of Cherokee Village United Methodist Church. He served God diligently through his work in the church for many years.
David is survived by his children with Alice, Michael David Wilson of Lakewood, Colorado, and Patricia Ann Rohloff of Brookfield, Wisconsin, four grandchildren David, Philip, Julie, and Carrie and seven great-grandchildren. David is also the beloved of Elsie's family, Marian Henderson and Linda Racette of Cherokee Village and Bill Henley of Seaford, Virginia, grandchildren Laura, James, Jeff and Jennifer and seven great-grandchildren.
Interment in the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church Columbarium will be at a later date.
