Two local businesses recently particpated to insure military personnel serving overseas are remembered this Christmas.

Local organizer Kathi Blackwell enlisted the help of others to fill "Military Love" boxes for shipment to the troops.

Dave and Debbie Gruger, owners of The Eagles Catch in Cherokee Village, and Kerry Evans, owner of Insta Smile in Hardy, contributed items, including more than 1,000 toothbrushes.

Blackwell said she has particpated in the program in the past and feels the cause is wonderful.

She is very grateful for the ovewhelming support given during the packing and shipping of the boxes, which contain many items that military personnel really need.

The boxes contained personal care items and non-perishable snacks, newspapers from home and playing cards.

The boxes were shipped in time to arrive for Christmas to give troops away from home a bit of Christmas cheer.

Blackwell asks everyone to keep the troops in their prayers throughout the holiday season.
