In a Fulton County showdown Dec. 13, the Salem Greyhounds visited Mammoth Spring High School and walked away with two out of the three games on the hardwood that evening.

The Junior Lady Bears could not keep pace with the fast tempo set by Salem Head Coach Scott Faulkner's junior Lady Greyhounds, with Salem winning 52-26.

In varsity action, the Lady Greyhounds kept the pace rolling with hard ball pressure in the backcourt to create Lady Bear turnovers and easy points for Salem.

Mammoth Spring attempted different offensive looks, but were not able to get long-distance shots to drop.

Salem's post player Sidney Mitchem stood guard in the paint and forced Mammoth Spring's Shy Smoot and Kayla Hale to lob up "Annie over" shots.

At the final buzzer, it was the Salem Lady Greyhounds 43, the Mammoth Spring Lady Bears 35.

In the boys' contest, the Bears made up for the two girls' defeats by blasting Head Coach Tim Eckman's Greyhounds 56-35.

Salem had a couple of shining moments with 3-point shots from Blake Hensley and strong drives to the hoop from Justus Sparks.

Mammoth Spring's Houston Cooper was the assist leader, scanning the court to find Mason Brown and Matt Turnbough, spotting up for open shots from the corner.

Foot speed and vertical leaping ability of Garrett Wooldridge was too much for the Greyhounds to handle on the inside, as the Bears defeated the Hounds 56-35.
