The very young Lady Bulldogs (one senior plus a bunch of sophomores and freshmen) could only give chase as the outstanding defense and rebounding of the Thayer Lady Bobcats turned into easy trips to the hoop on the offensive end of the floor.
With defensive steals by Elly Burrell, Meshila Mullins and Laken Martin under the Cabool basket, Emily Eckman (24 points) was already breaking away across half court for scores on the Lady Cats' end of the floor.
Freshman Jordan Alford (16 points) stole Lady Bulldog passes and took the ball end-to-end for layup shots as Thayer out-distanced the young Lady Bulldogs 23-4 in the first period.
The Lady Cats matched their points in the second quarter for a 46-15 halftime lead.
Senior Lady Bulldog Jamie Reaves led Cabool in the third with points in the paint, but the margin was still 66-24 for the Lady Bobcats to end three.
Thayer Head Coach Kristi Chester had the opportunity to work in some of the Lady Cats' younger players in the final frame, as Thayer held the Lady Bulldogs scoreless in the final square, for an 81-24 Lady Bobcat SCA victory.
