Arline P. Ebarb, 64, of Alton sustained minor injuries at 7:10 p.m. Dec. 31 when the 2005 Ford Freestyle she was riding in was hit from behind as it was stopped in traffic on Highway 160 a half-mile west of West Plains. The Ford, driven by Benjamin H. Ebarb, 72, of Alton, was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Amber L. Buffett, 24, of West Plains. The impact pushed the Ford into the back of a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Brett A. Hardman, 32, of Willow Springs. Arline Ebarb was taken to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. No other injuries were reported. All were wearing seat belts, according to the patrol.
Jacob W. Crowley, 16, of Marshfield sustained moderate injuries when the 2007 Kawasaki ATV he was riding at 4 p.m. Dec. 30 on County Road 216 six miles south of Alton crossed into the oncoming path of a 1999 Ford F-250 driven by Paula R. Schamel, 25, of Alton. The ATV and pickup hit head-on. Crowley was not wearing a helmet and wast taken to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. Schamel was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Two passengers in the Ford, Alethea N. Schamel, 16, and Jonathan R. Schamel, 14, were not injured and were not wearing seat belts, according to the patrol.
