Mahlom K. Maguffee (seated left in white shirt) poses with employees and a customer at his blacksmith shop in the early 1900s. According to his grandson, Larry Barker, Maguffee was Salem's last blacksmith, before motorized vehicles replaced horses as the favored method of travel. Maguffee's shop was located at the northeast corner of the square and, in a sign of the times, was replaced by a gas station. Barker found the photo in a box of family mementos. Can you identify any of the others in the photo?
