The Mammoth Spring Bears got a bit of revenge on Izard County Jan. 3, knocking off the visiting Cougars 43-41, giving Izard County its first setback in 1A-2 North play.
Izard County led 10-6 after one quarter and 23-16 at the half before Mammoth Spring outscored the Cougars 15-11 in the third to get within 34-31 going into the fourth quarter.
In the final frame, Mammoth Spring outscored the Cougars 12-7.
Wayne Coffey led Mammoth Spring with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Houston Cooper scored nine.
Trenton Hatman scored 21 points, with Preston Harmon adding 14 for Izard County.
The Lady Bears also picked up a conference win with a 44-26 victory over the Lady Cougars earlier in the evening.

Sydney Peck, Shy Smoot and Alex Taylor each had nine points to lead Mammoth Spring.
Makayla Gross paced Izard County with 10 points, while Kaydie Campbell chipped in nine.
