A Salem School bus was involved in an accident on Wednesday, Jan. 4, but the driver and five students on board the bus were not injured.

According to an Arkansas State Police report, bus driver Daisy Howard, 70, was turning left from Highway 395 onto Red Bud Road when she struck an oncoming vehicle. The accident occurred at 3:40 p.m., as the bus was running its afternoon route.

The driver of the second vehicle, Heidi Laxton, 30, of Salem was not injured.

Investigating Trooper, Cpl. Ronnie Stewart, indicated that the accident occured at the crest of a hill on Highway 395, and the hill blocked Howard from seeing the oncoming vehicle.

Howard was ticketed for Failure to Yield the Right of Way.
