Down by 10 points late in the third, it looked like the Koshkonong Lady Blue Jays were destined to suffer yet another loss to the Couch Lady Indians.

However, this night was different.

Instead of throwing in the towel when faced with a double-didgit deficit, the Lady Jays fought back.

And that fight didn't end until Koshkonong had knocked off Couch, 50-48 in overtime, Jan. 12 in Koshkonong.

The game was squared at 41-all after regulation.

The Lady Indians moved in front early in OT on four straight points from Lizzie Nessling. Nessling paced Couch with 16 points.

The Lady Jays quickly responded with a trey from Bailey Perry (16 points), her fourth triple and team's eighth of the game, at the 2:55 mark of overtime.

Then, Lexi Waggoner hit a jumper, and Shy Miller (seven points) canned a pair of free throws to move Koshkonong ahead 48-45.

The Lady Indians pulled even at 48-all on free throws by Taylor Emberton (four points), and Nessling with 30 seconds left in the OT frame.

And that was just enough time for Chelsey Carey (five points) to come up big from the charity stripe.

With 10 ticks showing on the game clock, she nailed two huge free throws to ease the Lady Jays on top 50-48.

Couch had one last chance to pull out a victory, but a long 3-pointer with two seconds left missed the mark, leaving Koshkonong with the two-point, overtime win.

The Lady Indians turned a 24-23 halftime lead intio a 37-27 cushion late in the third period, thanks to a 13-2 burst.

Nessling had seven points in that spurt, including an old-fashioned 3-point play, while Taylor Beal (six points) and Calee Risner (eight points) also added hoops.

Perry drilled a big 3-pointer late in the frame to keep Couch from running away, with the Lady Indians, who were up 39-31 after three.

"They just dug down. We've got several young players and they just dug down," said Lady Blue Jay Head Coach Charlie Ballard. "They didn't give up and kept their heads in the game. They kept playing hard and fighting and it worked out for them."

To start the fourth, it was Sam Collins' (10 points) turn to come up big.

Before fouling out at the 2:29 mark of the fourth, she drilled back-to-back 3-balls that pulled Koshkonong within 39-37.

Perry broke free for a layup off of a Lady Indian turnover at the 1:33 mark that knotted things at 39-all.

Dropping in a pair from the free throw line, Taylor Beal gave Couch a 41-39 advanatge with 1:23 left in the fourth.

But Miller hit a short shot on the left block with 30 seconds left that tied the game, and sent the contest into an extra period.

The game was also tied at the end of the first period, 12-all, as Cassie Roberts scored six of her 12 points for the Lady Indians in the game's first eight minutes.

Violet Hampton and Taylor York finished with three points apiece for Koshkonong.

Brook Beal posted two points for Couch.
