Joe Farley, 73, of Hardy, Ark., died Feb. 9, 2012, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark. He was born Aug. 12, 1938, at Green County, Ark., to Stewart and Maxine (Woodson) Farley. Joe loved all things natural, animals and plants. He spent his leisure time fishing and helping people of the community. He spent his early career in Special Operations in the U.S. Army and later as a computer programmer. Joe was a most dedicated father and joyful husband.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two nieces.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis McWhorter of the home; two sons, Wade Farley of South Bend, Ind., and Jason Farley of Cameron, Mo.; two daughters, Carmen Farley Barnes of Gladstone, Mo., and Cathy Farley Matheis and husband, George, of Georgetown, Ky.; two brothers, Max Farley and wife, Sandra, of Merritt Island, Fla., and Danny Farley and wife, Debi, of Stuttgart, Ark.; two sisters, Norma Trent and husband, Raymond, of Ash Flat, Ark., and Glenda Kovalcin of Paragould, Ark.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Tri-County Funeral Home Chapel in Highland, Ark., with Keith Gregson officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery near Paragould, Ark.
Pallbearers were Wade Farley, Jason Farley, George Matheis, Nicholas Brashear, Freddie Barnes Jr., Max Farley, Danny Farley and Fred Barnes Sr.
