A rural Alton man was charged in Oregon County Circuit Court March 26 with threatening to cut the throat of another man during an argument that reportedly stemmed from concerns over a child's bathing suit.

Scott Allen Ford, 18, of Route 2 Alton was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and felony asault, a class D felony.

According to a probable cause statement by Oregon County Sheriff's Deputy James Cruse, Ford had been drinking at his home when he began arguing with Lamour Embrey, 22, also of Route 2 Alton.

Several other adults in the home refused to fill out statements, according to Cruse.

According to reports, Ford hit the other man and threatened to cut his throat while the man slept. Ford allegedly was holding a knife at the time.

Ford is set to appear in court April 4 on the felony assault charge, and on April 25 for January and February misdemeanor charges of one attempt to buy liquor as a minor and two counts of marijuana and paraphernalia possession.

Embrey was charged with misdemeanor assault and is set to be arraigned May 9.
