A body was recovered on Saturday, April 7, after a fire which destroyed a Violet Hill home, the night before.

The body is believed to be that of Charles Green, 58, who owned the home with his wife, Audrey Gaye Green.

The body was transported to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory, as the Izard County Sheriff's Department and Arkansas State Police continue to investigate.

According to Sheriff Tate Lawrence, Audrey Green went to a neighbor's house the evening of April 6 to request that the sheriff's department be called, because her husband was threatening to burn down their house.

Lawrence said it is believed some type of flammable liquid may have been used to start the fire, and "an apparent domestic type dispute between the Green's may have been the catalyst" behind the fire.

Fire departments from Franklin, Oxford and Melbourne responded to the fire on Lacrosse Road near Violet Hill, but the home was totally destroyed.

Charles Green, the suspected fire victim, was a Republican candidate for the office of Izard County Assessor in the November general election.
