Monday, April 23, 2012

Come join us in Downtown Hardy this Saturday, April 28, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. for a community wide hour of prayer! Bring your picket signs and church banners, and line the streets of downtown as we make a human prayer chain to show anyone traveling through Hardy that we are still a community that prays. We pray that you will join us as we celebrate this National event with heartfelt prayer and fellowship. For more information, call Bro. Jackie Pickett at 870-528-3566 or Kim Moore at 501-412-8810. Hope to see you there.

The Spring River Presbyterian Church in Hardy will host a National Day of Prayer/Spring Fundraiser for the North Sharp County Ministerial Alliance on Sunday, May 6, at 2:30 p.m. The group, The Telestials, from Nashville, Tenn., will be the featured musical guests. Refreshments will follow in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to attend.

I thought the National Day Of Prayer was always on the first Thursday of MAY? Why schedule something along Main Street, a tourist area, during a Saturday and during business hours? Also, the statement, bring PICKET signs, seems to be a poor choice of words. The true National Day Of Prayer is suppose to be about all people of different faiths in the United States praying for the nation and its leaders. Even the Christian site that this story logo is from states, "It is our goal that you, your family and friends would participate in the National Day of Prayer. We pray that the event impacts your life, and that praying for our nation moves from a one-day event to a lifetime endeavor. So join us on the first Thursday in May and pray with conviction that God would continue to shed His grace on thee." I guess this event missed that scheduled day.
